He was a Man! She was a Women!

Not unlike the first man and first woman.

But God walked with them.

God knew their Course and Paths

He was born in Aberdeen Scotland and spent much of his boyhood there.

Born 24 July 1874. Died 15 November 1917.

Accepts Christ at age 15.

He commits himself to evangelistic efforts with his church outside London.

His ministry of teaching and preaching took him for a time to the United States and Japan

The later years of his life were spent as principal of the Bible Training College in London.
Later as a chaplain to British Commonwealth troops in Egypt during World War l.
She was born in 1883 at Woolwich, Kent, England.

She suffered annual bouts of bronchitis as a child, limiting her time in school.

Determined to excel and one day be the secretary to the Prime Minister of England.
She applied herself and studied shorthand in Pittman’s Correspondence School.

Her daughter Kathleen described Biddy as being very clever, and noted  she was brilliant at shorthand.

Her speed was alleged to be 250 words per minute which is faster than people speak.

While he struck up a friendship with the Hobbs family, Oswald was focused on serving God, not on finding a wife.

When Biddy decided to travel to the United States in May 1908.
 
Her mother knew Oswald planned to sail on the same ship.
 
She wrote and asked him to keep an eye on her daughter.
Biddy and Oswald wrote and visited each other in the US and became engaged in late 1908.

They wed May 24, 1910.

The Bible Training College

The next year, Biddy became the Lady Superintendent of the Bible Training College when Oswald became the principal.

It was there that she began to take notes of everything Oswald said in his lectures.

After the death of Oswald Chambers, the books which bear his name were compiled by his wife Biddy.

She is known to the whole word as Gertrude Annie “Biddy” Hobbs Chambers from her own verbatim shorthand notes of his talks.

The British publication of My Utmost for His Highest.

Lovingly compiled by Biddy from transcripts of her late husbands teaching. Published in the US in 1934.

Oswald senses Gods call and moves his family to Egypt.

He served as a YMCA chaplain to troops during World War I.

Oswald Chambers was an early-twentieth-century Scottish Baptist evangelist and teacher who was aligned with the Holiness Movement.

He is best known for the daily devotional My Utmost for His Highest.

My Utmost for His Highest continues to challenge and encourage people all over the world, through more than 13 million copies printed.

A century after his death, Oswald Chambers still guides people on their journey to knowing God better.

According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another builds on it. But let each man be careful how he builds on it. For no one can lay any other foundation than that which has been laid, which is Jesus Christ.

    I am currently working on site improvement since my IT team moved us across servers. I am looking at updating photos and poetry.
    The Holy Spirit is speaking so I am working on writing a new post titled, “Who is Jesus.”
